We need Godly men and women who will take a stand against the things of this world. The music, television, games, books, and hobbies this world espouses are entirely against God’s word and have no place for the Christian, however many – if not most – refuse to take a stand against these things. This is one way we loose standing with God.
To be clear, we have standing through Christ as saved children of God, but we have no personal ability to stand in Gods presence. If we are to stand before God for our families and those God has given us an influence over we must first get standing before God for ourself. This can only come through Christ making us righteous and holy as he is holy.
One might say, “no man can have standing before God. All men fall on their face in the presence of God.” to this I agree, but add he is able to stand us up before him and help us to stand. There are many men in the Bible that had standing with God. These are men that could commune with God. These are men that saw God answer there prayers. To have standing before God is to be able to boldly approach the thrown of grace for ourself and for others.
Moses stood before God, Enoch walked with God, Elijah and Elisha saw God answer there petitions, Paul was led be the spirit of God, Philip was caught up by God, John was the messenger of God to his churches. These men all had standing before God.
But, there was a boy who developed standing with God as a young man. This boy was part of the captivity. He was taken by the king of Babylon and his future was distorted forever. He was to learn the ways of the heathen. He was to be brainwashed with the science of his day. But Daniel partitioned God, and Daniel gained standing with God.
To gain standing with God we must do a few things:
Have a relationship with him, know his laws, his word, his desires – we must have Christ’s righteousness.
We must be worshipful of God, falling down before him.
We need to be concerned with our own level of commitment to God’s law and his holiness.
Be willing to suffer temporal loss to gain standing.
We must develop the ability to stand before God and men so that we can be lights to this world and see God use us to accomplish his will in our life.
