An American Convenience

In America, and many other parts of the world, there are many things that we use every single day that people – historically – lived their lives without. Forget about TV’s, phones, computers, cars, and the like; I am talking about things that are basic to living; specifically, I am talking about plumbing.

My family lives off grid. We get water from my parents’ house for the time being until we can get set up collecting enough rainwater to live comfortably. Hauling water – even with the equipment that I have available, can be a pain. Dishes, cooking, cleaning, drinking, keeping animals and plants alive all depend on water. Most people take for granted the convenience of have an almost unlimited supply of water at the tips of their fingers. Not only do they have water, they have instant hot and cold water. When we do dishes, we have to manually heat our water 1/2 gallon at a time, either with propane or solar power. If we need cold water we have to put it in the fridge or freezer hours before we can drink it. Even at that we have it better than a lot of people in countries that don’t have these conveniences.

America, and much of the “industrialized world” have so many conveniences that most people didn’t and still don’t have. Unfortunately, the Chruch – as an institution – that is in America, and most – if not all – of her members have these conveniences. I say unfortunately because I believe – as it relates to God’s heart for his church – that American churches no longer rely on the goodness of God to supply their needs. No, they are “rich, and increased with goods and have need of nothing.” At least that is what we think. We have hot or cold buildings, hot or cold water, hot or cold cars to get us to those things. We don’t need the power of God to grow a church, we have marketing strategies for that. We don’t need to ask God for our daily bread, we will put it on credit. We don’t need to be clothed in God’s righteousness, micro mini shorts for men and bikinis for girls are fashionable! Even among those that claim the name of Christ. It is cheaper and easier (and “legal”) to get alcohol than to buy a gallon of raw milk. We don’t need God in America, we have mammon, knowledge, fornication, doctors, drugs, and anything else a heart could desire.

If America ever was a Christian nation, it is no longer. Oh, men may say that that they are Christians, but the Christ they follow isn’t the Savoir Jesus, it must be the Anti-Christ. I see a lot in common with supposed Christians in America and the 7th church that Jesus rebuked in Revelation.

Revelation 3:14-19 KJV

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

I believe God is trying to tell those in America today, “I am about to spew you out of my mouth! Repent and trust in me. You think you have it all but I am about to wipe you out like I did to Sodom and Gamora. Awake out of your slumber!”

Oh Christian, let God’s words stir you to action! We need to see our depravity, and understand his strength. It is high time that we stood on the Lord side! Do not delay.

Oh sinner, Christ is coming again and he will judge the quick and the dead. that day is coming fast and who knows if you have tomorrow. Do not let your sin keep you from Christ. Yes he does ask of you to forsake it, but he also gives you the power to forsake it. Your fornication, your alcohol, your pride, your money, your stuff, your lifestyle is not worth an eternal Hell. Christ said it would be better to cut off your arm or pluck out your eye if those things were preventing you from salvation. Thankfully you do not have to do that, because he was cutoff for us.

Judgment is coming and it will start at the house of God. We must not slumber, but be seeking the lost souls of man!
