We shall not inherit

When someone passes away and they leave n inheritance for a child, sometimes that child cannot access what was left to them. Usually, a wealthy parent or grandparent does not want their heir to ruin their life by waisting the money left on stupid stuff, so they set limits that a child can receive every year until they reach a certain age. Our Heavenly Father is very wealthy, and he has made us inheritors of the best things imaginable. Unfortunately, we are not able to inherit all that God has left us.

I Corinthians 15:50

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

The riches that are in Christ Jesus will not be recognized until after we are able to inherit. This will only come after we have been changed from a corruptible body into an incorruptible body. We can never experience the fullness of God’s love and goodness this side of eternity. We must put off this old man and put on the new. Then and only then will we inherit the kingdom of God and experience his goodness.

This thought captivated me the other day. Just think, our flesh will never experience the fullness of God, and we cannot. Death is a necessary step is receiving the sweet gifts God has for us. We must first be made eligible to receive the inheritance before we can enjoy it. That means we must put on immortality. Eternal life isn’t the gift, it is just the beginning. God has so much in store for us, but it can only start at our death.

let us learn to die to self daily so that we may have a deaper understanding of the goodnes of God now.
