Something I saw in recent days was that since has been discovering this amazing phenomenon the moment when a sperm fertilizes and egg, in the deep, dark recesses of the mother’s belly there is a flash of light the MOMENT of conception.
Now, I’ve always believed that life begins at conception, therefore any form of “prevention” outside of preventing conception is wrong. Not only do birth controls not prevent conception, they have also been proven to hurt the women taking it mentally, physically and really are attacking women in general (I won’t go too much into that, but believe me, I could.)
Something we have seen after this most current election is women who have been brutally attacked through lies and deceit believing that “their” rights have been stripped away because of the face of presidency in this up and coming four year term.
I would stand to say that life is a human right – not a “men’s rights” or a “women’s rights” – no matter the ethnicity, creed, gender, or form of conception. IVF conceived children have no fewer rights than children who are conceived naturally. Children conceived in divorce, fornication and adultery have no fewer human rights than those who are conceived in marriage. Children conceived in rape and lust have no fewer rights than those conceived in love.
And I would also like to clarify that I do not consider spontaneous miscarriages and stillborn as abortions. those are heartbreaking in their own categories and my heart goes out to every parent and family who has experienced that.
Now, we could get into the fact that murder (the intentional ended of innocent life) is not a right any of us have – not should we have. However we do have the right of abstinence, personal sterilization (though I wouldn’t recommend it), adoption, and even an option to temporarily place your child in a home until you can get on your feet, and then you can bring your baby home through Hope Children’s Ministries.
In fact, the Bible says that children are a gift. Granted, this gift is a two edged sword. If you don’t know how to properly maintain, sharpen, oil and wield this gift, it can cause stress, pain and heartache to both yourself and those around you. Back to my point though – light bringing life.
In our Sunday School class, we just finished memorizing John 1:1-5
John 1:1-5 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
I know many times our culture pushes the two lowest percentage exceptions to try to make the rule but as my parents told me multiple times growing up, “The exception does not make the rule.” These two exceptions are heart-wrenching and if you have gone through either of these, I am very sorry for the pain and loss you’ve had to go through.
The first exception given is the life of the mother.
According to Lozier Institute , 0.3% of all abortions are to protect the life of the mother. According to the WHO, in America there are roughly 200,000 abortions per day, 2023 with only (0.3%) 600 being to protect the mother. While the Pro-Life Dr’s have been arguing recently that number is inflated and that there are fewer actual instances where a viable conceived baby needs to be terminated for the life of the mother, I will say I am inclined to see the perspective of this reason.
In this last year some very dear friends who have dealt with 17+ miscarriages in their 10 years of marriage went to the Dr to try to find out why she was dealing with so much pain in her side. They did an ultrasound and picked up a heartbeat. Come to find out, a baby was en route to the uterus when blocked due to endometriosis. In that case, where both lives have a substantial risk of ending, I can see how the option is to terminate. According to their Dr, taking the baby and implanting in her uterus wasn’t a safe or possible option either. My friend still has dreams where she hears the heartbeat almost a year later. Thankfully through counseling and healing, they have decided to adopt! It’s a lot of work but the agency they are going through is currently looking for the right children to place in their care.
All that being said, the second exception that many push and consider is rape/incest. Those are very harsh words and I’m very sorry if you’ve had someone ever behave in a manner so vile to the heart and intent of God towards you. According to the Lozier Institute, it’s a 0.4% abortions rate for those cases. Now the fact that this is even an issue is disgusting, knowing that the men who do this are let out of prison without -at the very least- cauterization and then these men going out and being able to do it again. That 0.4% would drop drastically if those people were dealt with biblically. Also, abortions for incest and rape also leads to the offender NOT being held accountable for his offense. I’m not saying through marriage or child support but a biblical execution of judgement for the GUILTY and not the one now carrying a beautiful, innocent life that is bearing the image and likeness of God.
Moving from that rant though and to the point I started at the beginning, with all the love in the world extended to each and every circumstance where this has happened, if you’re someone who is currently experiencing this, can I encourage you with this thought here:
While John 1:1-5 is specifically talking about Jesus Christ coming into the world through a virgin willing to obey the voice of God, I just couldn’t help but think of this passage when I had seen that finding of the light in the womb.
“In him was life and the life was the light of men and the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.”
Women in general are very much attacked on all sides by the devil. First through deception, then the oppression of deception. Both how many women were treated historically, and currently in many cultures and religions, but also in America by the medical field and in the very liberal feminist movements. The amount of harm that the “free sex” movement, increased “sex education” (which is a joke), and birth control (on top of the fact that the majority of medications have NOT been studied on women before being prescribed Willy-nilly to women because they want to get drugs out as cheap and fast as possible) has contributed to mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual decline and illness is alarming and needs to be discussed.
Women are life bearers. We are created in the image of God. The New Testament records that out of all the followers of Jesus, the 12 disciples, etc, the women (plural) and John were the only followers brave enough to stand with Jesus at the cross. God also gives very specific measures on how women and wives are to be treated. We are cherished and loved in the eyes of a holy God. We also have abilities no men can ever really comprehend and Satan wants to snuff out as much as that beauty as he can through deception.
That terrible act that was preformed against you WILL be judged by a holy and righteous judge who loves you in a way that is far worse than any earthly court system can preform. Mankind can punish the flesh, but that eventually has an end. I’d say far worse is an eternity of punishment where no bribe or good behavior can ever get you out of a position where YOUR SINS torment you forever in a lake of fire.
Those deeds done were terrible, but you know, if there was a baby conceived in that, and in the moment of conception there is a flash of light, can I present the idea that a Holy, loving God put a spark of light into that situation? that He is giving a gift of redemption to that dark and lonely situation? That He is giving something innocent in the face of wickedness to show you that there is beauty and goodness desire what Satan tries to do against you? That a loving God is now reaching down to heal from the inside out.
Can I also extend a hand of encouragement and support to anyone who has or is going through this? If you ever need to reach out, please do. Our email can be found on the blog’s website. We would love to help you in any way we can. I know how hard pregnancy is. I’m currently 41 weeks along today with our third child and it is HARD. That is in a position of full consent. In a realm where we have a large amount of spousal, parental, church, friend and community support. Which means if you don’t have that, the mental, physical and emotional struggles already assigned with pregnancy expound. We are here, as best as we can be, to help you.
Don’t let the darkness “comprehend” or snuff out the little light growing inside of you.
And if you’re going through this, the best support you can find is that of the Savior. Christ died for you and paid the price for any and all sin in your life. If you will accept that, He will be your peace, comfort and support in this time.
If you have already gone through an abortion and at that time were deceived into believing it was the only option, or maybe the best option for you, God has enough mercy, grace and love to forgive you for that too. There will still be mental and emotional scars (and perhaps physical depending on how badly the process effected you) but He is faithful and just to forgive and He can give you a clean and fresh slate before a Holy God.
