A finite vessel cannot enjoy the richness of an inexhaustible fountain, though it may be filled time and time again it can never hold more than its design allows.
So to can our corruptible flesh never enjoy the fullness of our incorruptible inheritance until our mortal self puts on immortality.
Death is not the end of everything for a Christian. It is the opportunity to enjoy the eternal to its greatest potential. We must live with a mindset that allows us to take a lighter hold of temporal things. We must view our life like a pitcher being filled with the living water of God’s eternal love that can get filled at the fountain of prayer in the presence of God. Why should we not continue to pour out God’s love to anyone near us, when we can get refilled in an instant by God himself. Why should we hoard up temporal stuff to satisfy ourselves when our entire point of living is to bring glory to God who can give us – and does – so much more than we could ever hope to get
1 Corinthians 15:50,53-55 KJV
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption…
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
For the Christian, Death is not the end, it is the fulfillment of God’s promises to us. We have an inheritance in Christ that incorruptible, undefiled and faideth not away. It is reserved in Heaven for us. Let us live, like we are rich, because we are.
