Poetry ~ Amy Carmichael, Commander of the Waters

Is He not here, Commanderof the waters?
Lo,the light spray leaps up aware to meet Him.
Hark how the joyful water voices greet Him.
    Hail,O Commander!

He sits as King: the boulders are His footstool;
Foam-pure the lovely pageant of His growing;
Fresh with the freshness of young leaves, His crowning-
    Hail, O Commander!

Hush, there's a silence in the shadowy forest;
Hush, through the white of thund'ring avalanches
Pass a whisper: 'tis the budding branches-
    Hail, OCommander!

Yea, He is here; oh, Mark the falls' abandon:
What do they know of measured love or meager?
"Let Him take all," and all in all's flung eager-
    Hail, O Commander!
Amy Carmichael

Few would know more of total surrender than Amy Carmichael.  Christ commands everything,not just the ship on the waters, but the waters themselves. He even commands the hearts of man, though through free will.

It is our job to yield to our Commander I every way, and we. An know that we can trust him because he commands the waters.
