The War on Womanhood

In the early 1930’s, the United States Congress decided that they wanted to honor a great general and first president, George Washington, by putting his image on the 25 cent piece known as the quarter for the anniversary of his birth in 1732. These quarters were struck in 90% silver until after 1964 when they were struck with a nickel coper alloy over a pure copper core. These were minted until 1998, when Congress decided to make a quarter for every state in the order in which the states were founded as such. in 1999-2008, the Washington quarter revers had an image representing on of the 50 states an din 2009 the revers held 1 of 6 of the U.S. Territories. In 2010, they decided to add reverses of a historic sight located in each of the 50 states and 6 territories ending in 2021 when the quarter would finally be struck with George Washington crossing the Delaware. A total of 113 different reverses in the span of 22 years after the revers had been practically unchanged for 66 years. Finally, it is over.

Unfortunately, no, They could not just pick one design and stick to it, They decided to pick a woman from every state and territory that was notable and honor her by placing her image on the revers of a quarter. As an armature numismatist, I think this was a really dumb Idea. Don’t get me wrong – I am for honoring Women. I mean where would we be without women. Maybe the garden of Eden? Idk but I would be born without my mother. I think one of God’s greatest creations was woman. It shows he has a since of humor. All kidding aside – I was tired of the revolving door of endless quarter types. Maybe I am a little too old fashion and boring, but We don’t need to change our money 5 times a year. Thankfully, Someone pointed out that 2026 was the Semiquincentennial on the Signing of the Declaration of independence and that the quarter program would run through it. Thankfully they decided to cut the Woman quarter program shorter than originally planned. So, they ran it from 2022-2025. Only 4 of the 10 more years planned. That is still 20 new designed quarters.

Well, they had to chose 20 worthy women to be placed on the quarters. These had to be heroic, extremely important people who changed the world for good. Women who represent the femininity for future generations to respect. They must embody what it means to be a woman. They had twenty chances to find a worthy woman and they blew each and every chance. Instead of finding 20 Great American Women, they found 20 women who wished and acted as if they were men. Some are worse than others but I don’t think that any of the people responsible for picking a woman knew what true femineity truly was. Here is who they came up with.

Titus 2:1-6 KJV

1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

If I had to pick the best of the 20 Amercan Woman Series quarters. I suppose the winner would be Edith Kanakaʻole. She was the Wife of one man, the mother of 6 children, and she was a teacher by virtue. I would not exacly call he great, and I don’t think Hula dancing is holy by any means. Non the less she seamed to fill her roll as a woman. Most of the other women spent their days trying to pretend they were men. This is not God’s design and it is not a biblical Woman.

If we go back to the Garden of Eden, God mad woman for the man – to be a help meet for him. Woman’s first job is to understand God’s design for her life. To be a great woman, you must first be a biblical woman. That means a woman must be under the authority and safety of a man. Her first job is to her husband (or Father if she is single). She is not to be brazen or loud. She is to learn submission. She is to learn how to best help her husband in the duties that he has been given – not by doing his job, but by coming along side him. A great Woman must be a helpful, submissive wife.

Proverbs 31:10-31 KJV

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
